Questa mattina ho raccolto il primo carosello della stagione: si tratta del Cucummaru di San Donato, una varietà che inseguivo da anni e che sono finalmente riuscito ad avere grazie ad Angelo Passalacqua e Angelo Giordano.

La consistenza è ben bilanciata tra il croccante e il morbido.
A dire il vero, dovrebbe avere delle macchie verdi più scure sull'epicarpo rugoso. Le macchie di verde più scure si stavano formando, ma non potevo aspettare oltre: il frutto aveva già raggiunto i 365 grammi di peso. Aspetterò i prossimi frutti...

THE FIRST CAROSELLO - report of June 2nd
This morning I harvested the first carosello of the season: It's the San Donato Cucummaru, a variety I had been chasing for years. Finally I got it thanks to Angelo Passalacqua and Angelo Giordano.
The texture is well-balanced between crunchy and soft.
Actually, it should have darker green splotches on its furrowed rind. The darker green splotches were taking shape, but I couldn't wait further: the fruit already weighed 365 grams. I will wait for next fruits...
