FRIGGITELLO PEPPER
It is a sweet and aromatic pepper, mainly grown in the whole South Italy. It's 10-12 cm long; its shape can be both conical and elongated (pics 1 and 2).
It has got a very thin pulp, covered with a thinner film called cuticle that makes it very easy to digest. As it is very thin, the Friggitello Pepper is not suitable for "peperonata"(*), but it is good fried in a little olive oil, adding some sliced tomatoes (pics 3 and 4).
I eat them with broad bean purée (pic 5).
The plant has got a nice upright appearance and is very productive (pics 6 to 8).
Peppers are harvested green, supposedly to help the growth of more fruits, but I don't spurn to pick and eat them when red as well (pic 9).
