Ecco il primo carosello dell'anno.
Quando l'anno scorso in un vivaio pugliese ho comperato i semi di questa varietà, non avevo mai sentito parlare di un generico Carosello Barese. Per istinto ed esperienza ho sentito che quello che era raffigurato sul fronte della bustina non era il frutto che sarebbe venuto fuori. E così è stato: era raffigurato quello che mi sembrava un Carosello Tondo Barese...
...mentre nella spiegazione sul retro dello stesso sacchettino era riportato: "frutti rotondi, con profonde solcature longitudinali. Buccia di color verde chiaro coperto (proprio così, sic!) di peluria." Descrizione quasi calzante del succitato Carosello Tondo Barese. Morale: è venuto fuori quello che vedete nelle prime tre foto.
Dopo tutto questo pistolotto, devo ammettere che il sapore di questa varietà è gradevolissimo. Però, care ditte sementiere, perché non essere più precisi? Sto facendo cattivi pensieri. È vero, pensar male è peccato, ma molto spesso ci si azzecca...

THE FIRST CAROSELLO
Here you are this season's first carosello (pics 1 to 3).
When I bought this variety seeds in a Puglia nursery garden, I'd never heard of an indefinite Carosello Barese. By instinct and experience I felt that the fruit spotlighted on the front of the packet wasn't the one which would come out. And finally I wasn't wrong: a fruit very similar to the Carosello Tondo Barese (pic 4) was portrayed whereas the back of the packet itself read: "Round-shaped fruits with deep longitudinal furrows. Bright peel of light green colour, down covered." This description is almost suitable for the above-mentioned Carosello Tondo Barese. Final result: the one shown on pictures 1 to 3 came out.
After this litany of laments I must admit that the taste of this strain is very pleasant. But, dear seeds companies, why aren't you more accurate in descriptions? I'm thinking bad thoughts. That's true, it's wrong to think badly of someone, but you hardly get it wrong...

RispondiEliminaE non è mica finita qui. Ho seminato un Carosello Tondo di Manduria e mi è venuto fuori un Carosello di Manduria tout court.
