L'anno scorso ho raccolto il primo carosello il 18 giugno; quest'anno sono già a quota undici per un totale di oltre 2 chili e mezzo. Niente male, se si considera che ho solo cinque piante e che una non ha ancora prodotto alcun frutto. Certamente, il tempo mite di marzo e aprile ha aiutato molto.

Il Cucummaru di San Donato, insieme alla Meloncella Tonda di Galatina, è la novità di quest'anno. Devo dire che finora il Cucummaru mi è piaciuto di più della Meloncella.

CAROSELLI - harvest of June 14th
Last year I harvested my first carosello on the 18th of June; this year I've already harvested eleven for a total weight of two kilos and half. Not bad, if you consider I've got only five vines and one of them hasn't yielded any fruits yet. Certainly, the mild weather in March and April helped a lot.
This morning I picked one Cucummaru di San Donato (pic 1), one Carosello di Manduria (pic 2) and two Caroselli Tondi di Manduria (pic 3). They are shown all together in the photograph 4.
Together with the Meloncella Tonda di Galatina, the Cucummaru is this year's new arrival. I have to say that so far I've liked the Cucummaru better .
After all the years of growing, I still have not found any reliably pure seed for the Tondo di Manduria. I'll keep working on it.
